I Wish I Was Funny

I wish I could make people laugh, a deep can’t-catch-your-breath laugh, a teary-eyed laugh, one that repeats and explodes when you dare to open your eyes.

A Russian expat once told me that Americans laugh too much.  “It makes them look like morons.”  I found this enlightening.  So, the ugly American is also moronic.  The Ugly Moronic American.  Add fat, like Baby Huey fat.

See?  That’s not funny.

I Need More Balance

When I first launched my “self-employed” life, I knew I needed some serious luck to pull off a career in art.

I was interested in the idea of balance offered by the ancient Chinese art of placement, Feng Shui. I studied it.  My goal was to maximize good fortune, and of course, balance.

According to Feng Shui methods, the color red and the element of fire on a southern wall promotes fame, fortune, and balance.  I scanned my living room, checked out the where the sun rises and sets and discovered that the wall with the fireplace faces south. Good luck for me!  Fire – that’s one thing, but not enough.  I needed red, you know, for balance.  So, I created a red abstract painting and called it “Auspicious Good Fortune”. It was hung it on that southern wall above the fireplace.  Perfect.

So, the question you are most likely asking is, ‘did it work’.
Answer:  I do fairly well.  Although, I think I should have studied further for therein lies the maximum benefit: To promote wealth and fortune, use the color purple on a southeastern wall.

Pull out the purple paint….I need more balance.

Looking for Meaning in All the Wrong Places?

Is there meaning in existence?  Age-old question..the answer elusive. Without consciousness, the question would not come up. Quantum mechanics may best describe meaning:  It depends on how you look at it, when you look at it and who is doing the looking.

I like to think that meaning can be experienced through certain sensations.   I have two favorites: humor and love.

When you are struck with something really funny, it is like electricity rolls up in your core, then explodes.  Same thing with love.  I never feel more alive than when I am laughing or loving.   I wish I had a really good joke to insert here because I would love to make you laugh.

Laugh and live with meaning.  Love and make a meaningful life.  Be the meaning.
