I am a constant student of the arts and humanities.   This is serious stuff that lends itself to a serious outlook and expression.  I work hard to soften this, although not always successful.

I thrive on the energy needed to make abstracts.  My passion is in the understanding of symbols we create and recognize in our communications.

My abstracts become symbols: Spaces and inhabitants of spaces are my inspiration.  I combine the inspiration with a personal expression of some “thing”.  Not always aware of what the thing is when I start out, at some point during the process, I feel unsatisfied with the work.  Only then can I gather courage enough to make the bold move that completes the work.  Titles come last.  The “thing” has made itself known.

The finished piece becomes the symbol of the thing I need to express.  It is placed in the space that inspired it.

  1. Thanks for your positive comments on my blog although your inability to comment on my site is disturbing. Perhaps the template I’ve chosen doesn’t have a comment option on the “About” page? I’ll have to check this out.
    Good luck with your work.

    • Thank you for your very kind words, Subhan. I visited your site and find it delightful! I especially like your poem “you said these are true”. Very intelligent.

    • You have made my day. There is a new spring in my step! I am humbled by your comments. Thank you, dear one.

    • I was just looking at *your* image and wondering if it is you and did you create it! This is a digital photograph that has been enhanced to make it look like a drawing.
